At the Court of King Ferrante
(The White Parchment)

It is the historical reenactment, written by José Elia, of the events of 1460, which led the Cavoti (people of Cava), guided by Mayor Onofrio Scannapieco (Claudio Lardo), to resist the attacks of Giovanni d’Angiò, King of France, while remaining loyal to Ferrante d’Aragona, in the bloody war for the Throne of Naples. After the victory, Ferrante d’Aragona, having retained the title of King of Naples, awarded the Città de la Cava (today Cava de’ Tirreni) an invaluable prize: a blank parchment with his signature, on which the loyal people of Cava could have requested any reward. However, driven by ideals of loyalty and honor, they left it untouched and “white”.

Today, the original Blank Parchment is still on display at the Town Hall of Cava de’ Tirreni.
